CHARACTER CONCEPT: Burst Lion by David Roche

What I've been able to achieve with Champions Online What I would like to achieve with DCUO

What would be needed to achieve this character concept?

To achieve the Burst Lion character concept, DCUO would need to provide the following costume elements that Champions Online does not provide.

The first would be an anthropomorphic feline head, with a cute face with a short snout/muzzle and cat-nose. I would imagine that such a head would be a very popular design element, as the feline head provided by Champions Online is... rather unattractive. Indeed, depending on how the costume creation system is designed, the head could be designed with a short snout and attractive face, and allow for multiple eye, nose, ear, and mouth options, and that one head could be used with various combinations to represent cats (with small and/or large noses and pointed and round ears could encompass housecats, lions, tigers), bears (with small and/or large noses and round ears), dogs(with small and/or round noses, and round and/or long/floppy ears), rabbits(with small and/or large noses and long ears), and various other animals. Especially if the head allows for a variety of color patterns.

The second would be that the anthropomorphic head would also allow hair. Hard as it is to believe, Champions Onlines' anthropomoprhic heads do not allow hair, which greatly cuts down on the level of character expression.

The third would be body fur patterns that neither fade out in odd areas (as seen in my Champions Online screenshot) and do not have either spotted or tiger-striped patterns, preferably still with a two-toned pattern, but without spots or stripes (both of which of course would be popular options). This wouldn't help out only me, of course, it would also be of great benefit to players who want to create heros or villains based on cats, dogs, bears, foxes, wolves, rabbits etc.

Of these three things, the anthropomorphic head with cute/attractively shaped face with short snout/muzzle is the most important element that Champions Online does not provide. Of course, the hair and body fur pattern options complete the look.

Elements that Champions Online provides that I would be keeping in the design of Burst Lion, that I assume DCUO will definetly contain:

Some form of bicep armor

Some form of armored gauntlet

Some form of knee-high armored boot

Lions' tail (basically a cats' tail but with a big poof of fur or hair at the end)

Katar as weapons directly from initial character creation

Additional Flavor

It really doesn't have much bearing on the character creation process, but the following is the origin story and basic information of Burst Lion.

Burst Lions' real name is Indy Reed, and she was once a mostly ordinary eighth grade student at a (insert city name here, for DCUO purposes it would probably be Metropolis) school, who happend to be only mostly ordinary because she was lucky enough to have a father that was the owner of a museum, who had explored ancient ruins and settlement sites in India, the middle east, and Africa. His facination with those regions of the world was the reason he named her Indrasena, which can mean "Best Warrior"... as well as having a nice sound, and easily shortening to the playful sounding Indy. Among the treasures that Indy's father had brought back to America with him for his museum was a necklace with a single large gemstone set in it, that appeared to be in perfect condition yet also be thousands of years old. Carvings at the site where he found the necklace appeared to imply that it had once belonged to a great warrior, so he named it "Mights' Stone". That piece of treasure was among those grabbed by a fledgeling villain and his pair of thugs the night they tried to rob Indy's father's museum one fateful night:

Indy watched as her father was struck with a pilfered artifact and fell to the floor unconcious. Filled with rage, she grabbed a nearby broom and confronted the villain and his henchmen. Terribly outmatched, she nevertheless refused to give up, and this captured the attention of a long-slumbering spirit. Bound to the gemstone necklace "Mights' Stone" was the spirit of a half-lion demigod who had been known by the name of Rajendra-Manjuk. He had been a warrior king in an age of sword and sorcery thousands of years ago, and had ruled his lands with justice. Impressed by Indy's willingness to battle those with evil in their hearts, he met with her in her mind. He offered to lend her his strength if she was willing to battle the forces of evil, and Indy agreed. Indy grabbed the Might's Stone from one of the goons and put it around her own neck... as soon as she did so, she was transformed. Her bodys' structure was changed slightly and made tougher, her ears were replaced with feline ears, her head took on a feline shape and she was covered from head to toe with short but thick fur. She also sprouted a tail, and her clothing was replaced by armor the same as Rajendra-Manjuk had once worn, only sized and fitted exactly for her. She was also given a pair of Katar that Rajendra-Manjuk had often used, which were once a gift from his goddess mother. Armed with these new weapons and a stronger, more agile body and also benefiting from the ancient martial skill of Rajendra-Manjuk, Indy quickly defeated the villain and his henchmen, who turned tail and ran empty handed as Indy chased them out of the museum. Cops who were arriving outside as a result of the alarm her father had pressed before being incapacitated, congratulated her on chasing away the villains, and asked her what her name was. Thinking that her father would never allow her to be a hero, she quickly thought of a hero name to give them: as she was bursting with a lions' power, she told them her name was Burst Lion.

Indy now fights as Burst Lion against criminals and evildoers with the guidance of Rajendra-Manjuk, she can summon the Mights' Stone simply by asking for it whenever she needs to transform herself into her hero form and battle for justice!
